Video: Jeff Beck Performs “I Ain’t Superstitious” at Crossroads Guitar Festival

April 15th, 2013

Eric Clapton’s fourth Crossroads Guitar Festival took place this past Friday and Saturday night at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Besides Clapton, this year’s lineup included Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Jimmie Vaughan, the Allman Brothers Band, Gary Clark Jr., Robert Cray and Vince Gill.

Below, check out some fan-filmed footage of Beck performing the Willie Dixon-penned “I Ain’t Superstitious,” a track off his first solo album, Truth (1968). That’s Tal Wilkenfeld on bass and Beth Hart on vocals.

The two-night festival was the culmination of Clapton’s US tour, which kicked off March 14 in support of his new album, Old Sock. All profits from the festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent people.

Hey Jaco, over here in Australia we have a description of people like you, we call them “dickheads”. Congratulations on fitting that description. I don’t know Tal nor do you so say she looks drugged is so insulting to a wonderful young muso who has probably more talent in here little finger than you have in your whole body, Dickhead

The vocalist is not up to Beck’s playing. She is below average. Her attemps at getting in the groove just made her look stupid. Too bad! Who gave her this chance to make a fool of herself?

Who’s the women on the violin? She looks to be having a good time. The singer just needs to spit out the gum otherwise it’s all good.

Beth Hart toured with J.B. in 2006, she sang all of Rod’s stuff.

Beth Hart is “not up to…?” Aw, man, I just gotta laugh when people say things like that.

Beck should give up on waiting for Rod and go out as “The Jeff Beck Group” with Beth on vocals belting out numbers like this one from Truth and Beck-Ola. No need to tune down, she sounds and looks great, and Jeff can still bring it. Get it done, Harvey!
