Sea Star: Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk Pro 1000M

We recently took a look at Girard Perregaux’s new 1966 Blue Dial Chronograph, a gorgeously colored tribute to a special era in the Swiss watchmaker’s history. Concurrent with that watch’s release came GP’s Sea Hawk Pro 1000M, a diver that’s water resistant to 100ATM.

Like the 1966 Blue Dial, the Sea Hawk Pro 1000M ($8,820) has deep roots in Girard Perregaux’s history. The watchmaker created the Sea Hawk collection in the Forties to designate especially high-water-resistance models. In the Sixties, the line was developed into a range of diving watches.

The current design dates to 2002, but nearly 10 years on, it still looks good, with a generously sized 44mm steel case and the crown positioned at four o’clock and protected by a unique, ergonomic shield. The Sea Hawk Pro 1000M is set on a rubber strap with safety folding clasp and extension system for wearing over a wet suit.
