The July/August 2011 issue of Guitar Aficionado magazine features a cover story with Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, who kindly invited us into his Bay Area home and his ocean-front Hawaiian estate.
Hammett was so generous with his time that we ended up with many more excellent shots from photographer Travis Shinn than we could possibly print in the magazine. Here are just a few of the best.

That doesn’t look like a D-18… Or at least it doesn’t have the usual appointments.
This would actually make a great desktop wallpaper for Kirk’s family
those are some awesome pics.
Meet the Holy Grail of Guitar!
I love your magazine. When are you going full on digital so I can read it on my I pad? I buy all my magazines (except GV) now through zinio or app based cause I travel a lot.
Thank you

I loved the article about Kirk Hammett!!!! Couldn’t put it down. What an awesome guy! I have loved him since I was a kid. I loved reading about his love for Horror and surfing. Well written, informative, enjoyable, and the photographs really captured his genuine soul! The best.
Dag nabbit good stuff you whippresapnpres!
it’s all your fault!! I’ve never been much for heavy metal but since the article on Kirk Hammett I’ve found a new love in this style of music & loved the article. I’ve booked my husband & I to a trip to San Fransisco to celebrate Metallica’s 30th anniversary but impossible to get tickets.
Hoping you could help us out in the ticket department since we are coming from Vancouver Canada!!
