Blog: An expansive—and expensive—Grateful Dead box set

Calling all Deadheads: Rhino is preparing a lavish box set documenting the Grateful Dead’s 1972 maiden voyage to Europe, and they need your help. The set, now available for pre-order for $450, expands on the triple-album Europe ’72, with more than 60 CDs of music, never-before-seen photos, liner notes from Grateful Dead historians, a coffee-table book, and other memorabilia.

Rhino will reportedly produce a maximum of 7,200 units, with the first 3,000 orders receiving personalized copies. If that’s not enough of a reason to get your order in early, here’s another: Due to the high manufacturing costs associated with the project, the label has stated that if they don’t reach 3,000 pre-sales before April 1, they won’t be able to go through with the production. So fans with a little extra money in their wallets—and a lot of extra time on their hands—visit the Dead’s website and pre-order your copy now.
