Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose is filling in for AC/DC singer Brian Johnson for the remainder of the group’s tour, according to Atlanta Radio 100.5.

The news has been all but confirmed by Ross Malcolm Young, son of founding AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and the nephew of lead guitarist Angus Young.

AC/DC had to postpone the remaining dates of their U.S. tour earlier this month. Johnson is suffering from hearing loss and has been urged by doctors to stop performing or risk greater injury.

Rose was seen in Atlanta last weekend and was reportedly in rehearsals with a band that was not Guns N’ Roses.

Jason Bailey, host of the Bailey and Southside show on 100.5, says he has it from a ”very, very good source” that Rose is fronting AC/DC.

“This is what I’m being told: Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows,” Bailey says. “All 10, including Atlanta.”

AC/DC have 16 shows remaining on the tour, according to their website.

“From what I was told,” Bailey continues, “this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus is a very black and white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band. He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music, so if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on. They’re in town, they were auditioning people for the job, and then they flew Axl in, again, this is from my source.”

Confirmation of Rose’s involvement came from the AC/DC camp on Wednesday, when Ross Malcolm Young shared a news story about the rumored Rose-AC/DC hookup on Facebook. When someone commented that he was “opening a can of worms” by doing so, Ross replied, “It’s true.”

He has since deleted the post.

As has been widely reported, Rose is currently preparing for reunion shows with founding members of Guns N’ Roses. As of the latest report, the band will include Rose, Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, and drummer Frank Ferrer.

The dates for the Guns N’ Roses shows do not conflict with scheduled shows on the AC/DC tour.

In the event Rose doesn’t work out, AC/DC should have no trouble finding other AC/DC-loving guest vocalists to fill in, including Bruce Springsteen and Spain’s Got Talent contestant Cristina Ramos.
